Regional Journey Planner development & Interoperability

Action No. 1a Upper-Normandy regional Journey Planner development

Develop a state-of-the-art on-line integrated journey planner for Upper-Normandy providing accurate data from all regional public transports operators.

AIM: By 2013, all Upper-Normandy public transport networks will be able to sell tickets for any journey on any network to all travellers in Upper-Normandy and provide reliable and full information about the entire journey.

There are fifteen registered Transport Authorities in Upper-Normandy. All these TAs have agreed that, in order to simplify travellers' journeys, eventually there will be only one type of ticket in Upper-Normandy. In practical terms, with the help of just one contactless smart card (or contactless ticket), a traveller will be able to use (purchase and validate) every public transport network in Upper-Normandy.

In order to do this, since mid-2006 the region has piloted and been responsible for coordinating all Upper-Normandy TAs so that all public transport networks in the area can provide the same level of service to all travellers, from ticket sales to after-sales services regarding the loss or theft of tickets.

Following an invitation to tender, a company has been chosen to develop this system.

In conjunction with this, and so that the service provided to travellers is complete, a similar step has been taken regarding multimodal information and intermodal pricing.
