In order to respond to high user expectations, the public transport authorities (TAs) in Brittany have sought to develop a multimodal information system on a regional scale.
This would provide a service which would facilitate mobility and encourage the use of public transport: so, all information about public transport in Brittany will be available on a dedicated website. As well as providing comprehensive information to travellers (door to door journey planner, area map, timetables at stops, editorial information about networks and tariffs…), the project will allow the TAs to consult the partner database and in particular to be alerted when a network amends its offer, optimise the management of connections between networks, and display the offer using isochrones.
The Breton partners already have a name for this future tool: BREIZHGO.com. The combination of “BREIZH” (Brittany in Breton) and “GO” will highlight the geographic roots of this partnership project, while expressing the idea of journeys.
Under the coordination of the Brittany region, the Breton partners will work together so as to be able to open the site to the general public in October 2010.
