La Rochelle Urban Community is continuing its work in support of a policy of active mobility in matters of passenger information, in order to improve service quality for users and facilitate their journeys on public transport within its area.
Since May 2011, almost half of the bus fleet (35 of the 80 buses which run on the urban network) have been fitted with flat screens. These TFT screens, which complement the LED message boards, allow us to provide information to passengers in real time: estimated time of arrival at the next stop, availability of other modes of transport near the stop, the level of accessibility at the stop for persons with reduced mobility, notice of any delays/works on the line…
The TFT screens also alternate passenger information with general information about the various public transport services which are available in the La Rochelle area.
These 35 buses have also been equipped to deliver audio information in real time. Audio announcements complement the visual information: they are available inside (next stop announcement) and outside (for people waiting at the bus stop – bus line and destination announcement) the bus.
By the end of the year, some information will also be available in English on the TFT screens and in the audio announcements at the areas main stops (airport, stations, town halls…).
The remainder of the fleet will be fitted before the autumn.
