Even more multimodal information on commentjyvais.fr

07/09/2011

After two years’ existence, the regional multimodal information site commentjyvais.fr continues to move towards more complete passenger information on both operational matters and the inclusion of new networks and modes of transport.

Working towards the inclusion of urban and air networks

The multimodal information platform currently includes ten urban networks. The partnership will be widened from this autumn with the inclusion of three new networks: Flers Conurbation, Saint-Lô Conurbation and Vire. The inclusion of a fourth urban network (Honfleur) is under negotiation.

The inclusion of air travel, which began with Deauville-Saint-Gatien airport, will also be widened from this autumn to include Caen-Carpiquet airport.

Plans for the inclusion of sea and bicycle transport

Contact has also been made with Brittany Ferries, Celtic Links Ferries and Irish Ferries, who are the three operators out of Ouistreham and Cherbourg. Their future inclusion in the partnership would enable the widening of the transport  network to include sea travel.

A partnership with the town of Caen and its service provider for including the free-bicycle service into the multimodal information system is also in the pipeline.

Interoperability with bordering regions

Interoperability with multimodal information systems in bordering regions will be initially implemented via a link to corresponding sites for destinations outside Lower Normandy. Such interoperability is planned with the sites for the Pays de la Loire and Brittany regions, and later with the Upper Normandy tool (currently under development) and the Île de France region.

The development of a mobile version of the commentjyvais.fr site

Access to the multimodal information site via a mobile version is planned for the end of 2012. The development of this version aims to facilitate access to passenger information and takes account of the increasing use of smartphones and mobile internet connections.

Pricing information

The site’s overhaul will enable the inclusion of a new category of pricing information which will offer a link to partner network pricing options. The intermodal products on offer will be emphasised within this category of information.
