On the 30th of March, four communities signed a partnership agreement relating to the implementation and the running of ticket intermodality and innovative digital services in the Basse-Normandie region.
These partners are the Basse-Normandie Region for the rail network, the Departement of Calvados for the intercity network, Viacites for the Caen area urban network and the City of Caen for the free bicycle service. The common objective is to set up a single ticket system for the use of these four networks between now and the end of 2013, using the most practical methods (microchip cards, mobile telephone…). From the month of July 2011, these four groups will work together, with a shared project manager, setting up intermodal tarification studies and preliminary interoperability documentation required for the ticketing system equipment for each network.
Additionally, these four partners are working with the regional authorities, with high-tech businesses, and state and commercial banks in order to meet the requirements called for in the Trade Minister’s statement of intent: “Regions which are leaders in Near-Field Communication.”
